Cordings launches transactional website for traditional british clothing

Cordings, the retailer of traditional British clothing, has launched an online shop to complement and extend its retail operations. The shop is at http://www.cordings.com.

Cordings has been marketing traditional British clothing since 1839, from its prestigious base in Piccadilly. Its products include the renowned covert coat and Tattersall shirt, specialised rainwear, premium trousers (in corduroy and moleskin) and a wide range of tweed garments. In 2003, a management buy-out supported by Eric Clapton has revitalised the business, allowing it to develop new product ranges and, importantly, to invest in a new direct sales channel via the Internet.

The new website, at www.cordings.com, has been delivered using Screen Pages’ online retail platform, Screen Commerce.

Cordings new website showcases its most popular, ready to wear clothing products and accessories. Initial goals are to provide a touch-point for its many customers around the world, enable them to make purchases easily via the Internet (from existing accounts) and increase its visibility in the search engines.

Noll Uloth, Managing Director at Cordings, said: "We have seen other niche clothing brands develop online. With our plans for aggressive growth, it is vital that we develop and drive an Internet sales presence for our expanding clientele, as well as a creating a vehicle for acquiring new customers.”
