Pod casts net online with new website by Screen Pages

Pod, the home and lifestyle retailer, has launched an online shop with full e-commerce capabilities. The new website has been designed and built by Screen Pages, the online retail specialist.

Pod first started trading in Clifton, Bristol in the autumn of 2001. A second shop followed in Montpellier, Cheltenham in 2003. Its aim is to offer an innovative and appealing collection of home and lifestyle products that make ideal gifts. The emphasis is on style and fun.

The new website, at http://www.thepodcompany.co.uk, has been designed and delivered as a fully bespoke e-commerce website by Screen Pages (http://www.screenpages.com).

The website features clean, simple navigation; great product photography as well as stylish black and white interior shots with characteristic red highlights. Alternate gifts are recommended to shoppers and purchases can be gift-wrapped with a personalised message.

A lot of attention has been given to product navigation: several thousand product can be browsed by category, type of gift or price range. A unique feature of Pod’s website is the “expodition”: a collage of “tags” showing what types of products are available by generic descriptions (similar to the “buzzclouds” on social sites such as Flickr.)

Key features of the new site include:

• Bright, colour photography in a clean, clear design;
• Several, easy-to-use browse and navigation approaches
• Online customer service tools: remember me, email sign-up etc
• Simple, quick checkout process
