Carlton Services Press Release

Carlton Services appoints Screen Pages to help with digital transformation and online growth on Magento 2

Jan 2019 – Carlton Services, the premier supplier and service provider for refrigeration, air conditioning, catering equipment and ventilation systems, has appointed Screen Pages to support, manage and further develop its two websites. The sites can be visited at http://www.carltonservices.co.uk and https://www.carltonsales.co.uk/

Established in 1978, Carlton Services has been providing exceptional service to small companies and big brands alike. Based in the South West, their wide array of services includes the supply, installation, maintenance and repair work for the NHS, MOD, National and Local Government Offices, as well as several popular restaurants, hotels and supermarkets.

Key goals for the new website include:

  • Secure the Magento installation by upgrading to the latest version
  • Adding two-factor authentication
  • Addressing a number of usability issues and bugs across the site
  • Redesigning the site with a mobile-first approach for improved UX
  • Optimising the search

Since the Carlton Sales site launched with Screen Pages at the end of November 2018, the conversion rate has increased by 22.67% and conversions on visits using site search have gone from 2.92% to 3.67%.

“Our business was expanding rapidly on Magento, but we needed access to greater e-commerce and Magento experience backed by professional development and a structured project management and support team. We could see that Screen Pages – as a Professional Magento Solution Partner with a track record in B2B – could provide us with this. We have been exceptionally pleased with the results so far: the sites are running smoothly, quickly and we can see positive results already.”

Adam Carlton, Director of Carlton Services

Sarah Willcocks, CEO and Owner of Screen Pages said, “Carlton Services is a great example of a successful owner-managed business that has grown over the years, developed with a clear focus and sound execution. We are pleased to be working with Carlton’s management to provide the right level of advice, technical resource and management to support its ambitions.”

FREE white paper: Should you sell on Amazon?

Amazon scares many consumer brands. It’s the world’s biggest marketplace so it cannot be ignored, but many businesses just don’t know whether to compete or collaborate.

According to Magento, 55% of customers start their search on Amazon and 50% of products sold globally on Amazon are from third party sellers. However certain brands, particularly in the luxury sector, have tried to resist what they see as a race to the bottom.

You can decide to exclude your brand but if you do, Amazon customers might choose a suitable alternative from one of your competitors. Once they have jumped ship, it’s going to be tough getting them back. Any margin you save by not selling on to Amazon, you are going to have to spend trying to re-acquire that customer anyway.

Mage Titans 2018, Tadhg Bowe confirms that contribution flow is alive and well 🙂

Tadhg Bowe became a little flush after receiving a nomination for ‘slide of the day’ at the Mage Titans 2018 conference in Manchester.

It was a fantastic day. Tadhg talked about the very important subject of contributing to Magento community engineering projects.

Mage Titans is THE event for Magento developers. It is a great learning environment, showcasing the leading names in Magento alongside the rising stars of the community.

Screen Pages’ very own Tadhg Bowe is already well respected for his contribution to the Magento community. “I love this community!” he declared on stage. And that is no lie. But now it appears he is garnering a new reputation for his humour: His use of simile / analogy / metaphor (depending on your perspective) on many slides certainly captures the audience’s attention. After a long day of absorbing talks, being last on stage was never going to be easy. But as Tadhg puts it: “ah sure it was grand”. It so it was. Nearly 2 grand!

Well done to everybody involved with Mage Titans including the many wonderful sponsors. Long may this event continue!
