Belated coverage of Screen Pages' last client event in September, 2012.

We organise regular client events where Screen Pages and carefully selected and relevant speakers from external experts, analysts and suppliers. The events are mostly focussed on e-commerce best practice and packed full of business & marketing advice for small-medium sized e-commerce operations: covering areas such as search marketing, email, content, online marketing and Magento in general. They present a great opportunity to listen, learn and importantly, network with like-minded businesses. The events are free to Screen Pages' clients and are rounded off by a few drinks and nibbles in the crypt.

The September event was held at St. Martins Crypt off Trafalgar Square.

Proceedings commenced with a brief introduction from Screen Pages, featuring recent work, Magento updates and company news,  Kathryn Hooper of Communicator, one of the leading email marketing software applications discussed best practice email marketing, presenting latest trends  & statistics, as well as important marketing tools such as personalisation, segmentation and dynamic content.

Ben Potter, director of Leapfrogg the retail search marketing agency presented latest search marketing thinking, social media and SEO, the importance of social and great content in "link-building", the vital ingredient to effective search.   Josa Young, formerly of Vogue & Conde Nast, presented on how to develop an effective online content strategy, with a view to increasing consumer engagement & how to formulate and implement better lifestyle content. The talk was brimming full of great ideas.

Lee Duddell, from Whatusersdo, the usability service, surprised the audience with some live videos of attending clients' website usage and then gave some great examples of common usability pitfalls. We heartily recommend Whatusersdo services are factored into ongoing study and reporting.   Tim Leighton-Boyce, Google Analytics consultant, was on hand to provide some great tips on Google Analytics, such as how to analyse mobile and how to set up dashboards and simple A/B tests onm your content.

Finally, the event was wrapped up by Screen Pages with some simple and cost-effective suggestions on how to drive incremental sales with Magento: loyalty schemes, Ebay & Amazon channels., follow-up emails etc. And then came a few glasses of wine and some delicious canapes!
