Screen Pages has studied 15 of its clients' christmas trading and has compiled the following statistics.
For the month of December 2010, 80% of the retailers grew sales YOY and 40% grew at more than 30%. The average sales growth was 14%.
-80% managed to increase visitors, 26% increased visitors by 50%. Overall visitors to their websites grew 25%.
-73% showing increases in order volumes, with order numbers growing 12% on average.
-46% increased average order values, with an average increase of 2%.
The sample size was 15 and combined sales approached £5m. The businesses involved are niche brands selling consumer goods mostly to ABC1s.
