It seems obvious to say, but often it’s the “wrong” person who leads the process. E-commerce is a unique blend of the marketing, technical and analytical as well as a sound understanding of your operational processes and work flow (backed by sound planning and management) – all these factors should come into play when determining your requirements and their fulfilment.
Either have someone on board who knows what to do and has done this before or, failing that, hire a consultant to help.
